Italian: 1982 was a tremendous wine vintage for big, rich and fruity Barolo and Barbaresco. The grapes were in superb condition for an early harvest and, thanks to the wonderful summer, the crop was large as well as very healthy. Wines from Tuscany(Chianti and Brunello) were also in fine form producing ripe, flavoursome, well-balanced wines.
Bordeaux: The 1982 wine vintage was an outstanding one that produced some of the most complex profound wines since 1961. Great weather made this vintage a successful one. Harvests were boosted by a September heat-wave, the result of which was super-ripe grapes, both in respect of sugar content and physiology. The lesser wines from the St Emillion, Graves, Pomerol and Margaux regions are now fully mature. The heavyweight wines from these regions and St Julien, Pauillac are evolving slowly and will continue to do so.
Champagne: 1982 is an exceptionally fine, rich vintage for Champagne. Ideal weather conditions in 1982 led to a good vintage, a relief after a disappointing run. A cold and frosty winter gave way to a coolish spring, but temperatures picked up later in the season. The flowering conditions in June were ideal, and summer was sunny and dry. The grapes were ripe by relatively early on in September, and showers mid-month helped them achieve near-perfection. The crop was one of the largest on record.
Port: 1982 was a good Port Vintage, with elegant and aromatic wines. Declared by a few houses, but most made Quinta wines.

Barbaresco Fontanafredda DOCG
From the outstanding 1982 vintage, this Barbaresco from the renowned estate is now fully mature. The wine still has a light red core, nose of elegant cherries, hickory smoke, floral elements, and just a touch of alcohol. On the palate, initially slightly dry, but gradually it fills out to a spicy, oaky taste. Outstanding Nebbiolo!

Quinta do Noval Nacional
86/100 Wine Spectator
90/100 Wine Doctor
Noval is particularly famous for its Nacional, a Port produced in some years only from a 2 hectare parcel at the heart of the Noval vineyard where ungrafted vines survive. This is remarkable, because phylloxera, the root munching aphid that necessitates grafting vines onto resistant American rootstock, is endemic in the Douro

Rose Champagne
** 95 Points - Robert Parker **
Its nose explodes out of the glass with more chocolaty bread and strawberry fruit. The palate was big and brawny. The palate was still very fresh, with more razor-like qualities to its overall impression, both clearer and quicker and full of cherry fruit. Long finish. Outstanding.

Giordano
This wine shows the magic of an aged Barolo. It starts with a beautiful Piedmontese nose of chocolate, damp wood, soy sauce and spice surrounded by deep, slightly heady aromas of dried dates, cherries and figs, all wreathed by classic notes of rose and tar. The palate is still just about right - still bright with acidity, but with tannins that had softened out, it showed lovely earthy flavours specked with wood spice, smoky tar and flowers floating around a delicious mouthful of sour cherries as the wine moved into a nice fresh finish that ended with a touch of savoury earth and soy notes ringed with a little halo of rose petals. …

Pauillac, 2me Cru Classe
** 92/100 Parker **
"This wine turned out much better than I expected. At a young age, it was somewhat disjointed and seemingly lacked acidity, but there is no doubting its level of concentration. It has firmed up and lost some of its baby fat, and now reveals plenty of sweet, smoky, leathery black currant fruit, a plush, opulent mouthfeel, and has reached full maturity. The color is starting to brick at the edge of the glass. This complex, rich 1982 is best consumed over the next 5-8 years" Parker, Wine Advocate, 2009.
